Dr. Clarence Earle treated generations of Des Plaines children from 1887 to his death in 1938. Though he was a general practitioner, Dr. Earle developed a national reputation as an expert on childhood diseases and was an early proponent of the diphtheria vaccine. He was committed to providing quality medical care to all Des Plaines children, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. For many years, Dr. Earle served as the attending physician for St. Mary’s Training School and reportedly even traveled to St. Mary’s on foot when a snowstorm rendered roads to the orphanage impassable. Later in his career, Dr. Earle performed free school physicals in summer health clinics organized by District 62 school nurses and PTAs."},{"label":"Rights Statement","value":"COPYRIGHT NOT EVALUATED: http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/CNE/1.0/.
