Spiegler's was in business in Des Plaines from 1900 to 1992. It was originally founded by Louis Spiegler and his brother Benjamin Spiegler. The original store - at first called Spiegler Brothers - was first located on Ellinwood Street and opened on June 2, 1900. Spiegler's Department Store was the anchor store at the Des Plaines Mall, which opened on November 10, 1977.
