Meyer Boarding House and Lager Beer Saloon located at the northwest corner of Pearson Street and Miner Street (Northwest Highway). William Meyer is the man wearing a white shirt and dark vest leaning his hand against a post on the front porch. He received the first liquor license issued by Des Plaines in 1871, although his saloon was not the first saloon in Des Plaines. William F. Meyer is the great-grandfather of Rev. Dr. William G. Grice, III. Meyer's daughter - Savena Meyer - married John F. Ahbe in 1894. In 1898 John and Savena Ahbe built a house on Thacker Street, which continues as the family homestead (2016). William F. Meyer and his family are buried in the Town of Maine Cemetery. The property was sold about 1904/1905 and the C.F.M.Brown building was constructed on its site."},{"label":"Rights Statement","value":"COPYRIGHT NOT EVALUATED: http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/CNE/1.0/.
