\nSince my last letters, My very dear Lord and Brother, I have changed my opinion on the place of your consecration, and I am determined to ask you to come down to our Louisiana for this ceremony. Beyond reasons that are personal to me, such as that my health has badly suffered for a month as well as the expenditures into which this trip would drag me in spite of myself, there are many even more substantial: 1st I believe that it is of utmost importance that you have the opportunity to personally get to know all the members of the Clergy in Louisiana. 2nd They themselves desire to be present, in as great a number as possible, at your consecration. 3rd It is convenient that you see with your own eyes your confreres' situation, but above all that you conclude in person the great matter that Mr. Cel. has started, as I do not believe he is the most appropriate man to complete it.\n

\nI thought the most favorable day would be that of your birthday, March 19. It seems to me you will have the time to bring yourself here, if, as I do not doubt, there are some steamboats who are to go down against the February current. In any case, it will happen the earliest date possible after your arrival---You will come here (to the house of Mr. Bringier, left bank, 66 miles below New Orleans)---after resting there, you can take your retreat at the house of Mr. De Lacroix, curate of St. Michel 6 miles from here---My intention is to consecrate you in Donaldson, in this neighborhood and that of your Messieurs.
