On the Seminary's farm there have been sown - 45 arpens of corn, 48 of wheat, 50 of oats, 28 of pasture, 40 of grazing land, 40 of orchard.</p>30 June I am going down to the Cape, where the progress of our Holy Religion and the advancement of our Congr. ennobles my soul for the struggles we have had there - at the Sunday Mass over half were present, and the Congregation was large/there were converts- our day school grows every day, and the Convent is well established in the affections of even the Protestant people - I believe that the conversions made there and at the Seminary during the past year equal, at least, the conversions in the entire Diocese. The house is in the good state of being able to support itself, it is well equipped with provisions - we count almost 400 books in the library -  on the farm there are 13 heads of goats, 40 heads of cows, 80 pigs, 1 wagon, 45 arpens sown with corn, 20 arpens of meadow, 15 arpens of pasture, 3 of wheat, 2 of potatoes.\n<p>\n-\n</p><p>\nIt has been more than a year since I requested to be put in charge, because I had done the hard work, and it was necessary to be firm and even a little hard in my affairs, I felt, and I have told you, v[ery] h[onored] F[ather], that it would be better to install for the perfection of everything, another who never had to confront so many little weaknesses. Your confidence up to this point has ensured that the work always advanced,  notwithstanding the complaints that naturally will be made when one feels [financially] embarrassed. I give you detail of the provisions of the two houses - and I have asked that the Sup. and the agents make an exact inventory to assist at the yearly Visitation. Finally I tell you that, <i>ratione numerarum</i>, the provisions and the well being are equal in both our houses and in both our missions.
