The original image was created by Percy A. Grassby. The caption below the image reads \"\"The New North Church was organized by a group of mechanics in 1714. The church which is reproduced above was built for them in 1802 from the plans of Bulfinch which also served for the 'Bulfinch' Church in Peterboro, N. H. This church takes to itself an architectural distinction from being the only one extent in Boston erected from that architect's design. In 1805, a Paul Revere bell was placed in the tower. It was restored a few years ago by popular subscription, following a fire which damaged the rear wall. The facade of the church is as the architect designed it.
