Ebenezer Parkman. The sermon was repeated on \"July 30 p.m. 1775. With the Omission of all the Passages which were peculiar to the first Occasion but with mentioning the remarkables of the present time, viz. the intestine, most distressing War, the Sickness among the Soldiers, and in some of the Country Towns, and the late terrible Drought, which God has been pleased to relieve us under by the late very refreshing Showers.\" The sermon number is MCCCLXXI (1371). <br /><br /> \n\nPages 7 and 8 contain references to the British victory over the French: “we can’t but think in Righteousness, as they are Antichristians, Enemies of the true Religion, wicked Idolaters and promoters of the Idolatry and Superstition of the Church of Rome, among the Savages; very perfidious to the English and guilty of many horrible Murders and inhuman Crueltys which they both committed them Selves and barbarously Stirred up the Indians to commit”).  With respect to the Spanish: “in terrible Things, in Righteousness did the Lord answer us, upon them. For, in the Short Time the War lasted against them besides what was done to their Shipping, they lost Havannah and tho that is restored yet have we all Florida which may prove very beneficial to the british Interest. We are prone also to judge that these terrible Things are in Righteousness because of their breach of Treaty, joining with Our Enemies, and annoying and invading our Allies.” With respect to the Native Americans: “we don’t know what terrible Things God has done distinctly among them but this is apparent that by their loosing such a support as the French were to them they would no Question, account it very terrible.” <br /><br /> \n\nParkman cautions: “Yet we may not Pride our Selves nor boast.” He points to the loss of men and the increased national debt. More importantly, “we could not quietly enjoy the Blessings of Peace. Three Things have especially occurred. One, the Sad intestine Commotion at Home arising from the different sentiments about the making Peace. Another Thing is the prohibiting by Act of Parliament the Colonies supplying themselves with the Produce of the West Indies, from any other than our own Island, which has extremely embarrassed the Trade of all Northern Colonies, and caused loud Complaints. To these a Third is added.
