Silva from [Smokey?] Point. Breeze south, sails towards me.\" Out of Gloucester, built in Essex in 1906. This ship is well known in Gloucester for its 1907 incident where she lost 10 of her crew. On October 25, 1907, she got caught in a squall while captained by Captain Silva. A nearby ship, the Frances P. Mesquita (captained by Joseph P. Mesquita), was able to save two of the crewmen. At the time of the squall, the Clara G. Silva was fishing on the northern edge of Georges. They had just dropped almost all of their dories when the weather conditions suddenly changed. Captain Silva was not able to get all his men back on the boat in time. The missing men were Joseph Bogs, Joseph M. Alves, Marian Simmons, Frank G. Machado, Augustus Silva, Jason Branco, Manuel N. Pinguello, Manuel D.
