Through this claim that technology is not morally neutral, Francis expresses a prevalent societal concern: technology is consistently shaping who we are and what we are becoming. Recognizing these dangers, we must begin asking ourselves what technology is doing to our human formation and how it might be changing us for worse or better. With the ever-expanding technological landscape of the 21st century, it is important to critically appraise the promises of technology in conjunction with the reality it affords its users. Using Christian theological ethics, this paper presents an exploration of guidelines for responsible technological development.\n\n Focusing specifically on the concepts of justice, stewardship, and right limits, this paper explores the ways that Artificial Intelligence presents challenges to their traditional understandings while allowing space for these concepts to speak to the challenge of emerging technology. Pope Francis highlights in several encyclicals that the end of technological innovation should be the flourishing of all humans. However, this understanding of human flourishing at the center has become lost and we now find ourselves in a society that has completely detached its innovation from its ethic. It focuses instead on efficiency. I argue that efficiency without ethics leads to exploitation. Over the course of this paper, I provide readers with a framework for engaging with Artificial Intelligence that puts the flourishing of humanity back at the center of our innovation and engagements with technology. This paper aims to be a middle ground that offers space to think about what emerging technologies are doing to us and for us and how we might engage with them to promote the flourishing of all
