Salamanders are particularly vulnerable to human impacts on water and habitat quality. The Southeastern United States is a global hotspot for salamander biodiversity. Berry College has an abundance of suitable salamander habitat, including several stream and seepage areas. Understanding patterns of salamander diversity on campus can inform land management strategies and ensure proper care is taken to preserve high quality habitat. To establish a baseline of salamander diversity data, fifteen nocturnal active searches were conducted at five stream sites on Berry College’s campus from September 25th, 2025, through March 5th, 2026. A total of 192 specimens were caught, measured, and photographed for later identification. Seven species within Family Plethodontidae were identified: Desmognathus conanti, Desmognathus cheaha, Eurycea cirrigera, Eurycea aquatica, Eurycea cf. wilderae, Pseudotriton ruber, and Plethodon glutinosus. Supplemental observations on campus were included to highlight areas that could use further sampling and expand the inventory to include Eurycea longicauda.
