Print No. 9 in the series. Depicts Goro Tokimune, one of the Soga brothers whose story of revenge became a legend. Goro and Juro’s father was killed by Kudo Suketsune, leaving them orphaned. In 1193, on a rainy night, the brothers finally exact their revenge by sneaking into the camp of Suketsune’s hunting party. Tragically, Juro is killed during their escape attempt, while Goro is later captured and sentenced to death by Emperor Yoritomo. In the print, we see Goro rolling up his sleeves on the night he prepares to avenge his father. The bird flying over him is a Hototogisu or Japanese Cuckoo, symbolizing the call of spirits in the next world."},{"label":"Date created (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1885"},{"label":"Date created","value":"1885"},{"label":"Creator role","value":["Artist"]},{"label":"Creator","value":["Tsukioka Yoshitoshi/月岡 芳年 (Signature: Yoshitoshi ga/芳年画)"]},{"label":"Identifier - Local","value":"Moore_Ukiyo-e_0001"},{"label":"Extent","value":"1 file"}],"description":"Mountain Moon rain After Rain: Tokimune","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/b30612ba-3756-4932-8d35-22491058c078/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Mountain Moon rain After Rain: Tokimune","height":5917,"width":3995,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/b30612ba-3756-4932-8d35-22491058c078/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/b30612ba-3756-4932-8d35-22491058c078","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":2048,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":5917,"width":3995},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/b30612ba-3756-4932-8d35-22491058c078/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/b30612ba-3756-4932-8d35-22491058c078/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/b30612ba-3756-4932-8d35-22491058c078/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/logo"}
