Acquiring and raising chickens for egg production was more problematic than our fish project but could be done with some effort. Parwanipur was a day away by either train or tractor and wagon so picking up chicks was often a three- day project. Furthermore, the chickens needed to be vaccinated and the medicine, brought down from Kathmandu, kept cold in thermoses with dry ice. Yet the projects were successful, and the result was hundreds of healthy chickens and thousands of eggs.
