His head is turned to look at the moon in the upper right hand corner. The print depicts the larger than life Kabuki character Kezori Kuemon that features in several plays based on a historical event in 1718. A gang of seven smugglers were arrested in Nagazaki and put in the stocks for three days in Osaka. The Kabuki play tells the story of an ill-fated encounter between the business man Soshichi and Kezori's gang.
