After being sick from November to mid-January, Bea and her doctors speculate it may have been COVID-19. The physical strains of sickness and uncertainty of cause were terrifying and grappling with potentially spreading the virus to other people (since she had to keep working), combined with working 65+ hrs a week (3 jobs), while being a full-time student weighed heavy. Bea also endured the financial strains of being unemployed and moving 16 hours across the country in the middle of a pandemic. What has kept her going: there are so many great people out there - there are awful people too - “but it makes the people who are beautiful and wonderful so much shinier and great and wholesome”. What kept her going the longest was being able to go to a field, play with her dog, lay in the grass, and feel human. In losing her humanity to the “capitalistic repetitive nightmare”, Bea states that no one should have to work 65+ hours a week while going to school full time to barely scrape by.
