INDEX\n00:00:00 - 00:12:42 Life and Food in Egypt\nThis early period of the interview is beset by technical issues .The connection was poor on both ends, and the chapter ends when Lachlan Macrae had to reconnect at around 11 minutes. Aside from initial introductions, Daisy speaks of how she was forced to flee Egypt due to the Suez Crisis of 1956. She then explains how she initially tried to go to France as her father was citizen. However France refused to grant them asylum, therefore they went to Brazil in 1958. She speaks of the multitude of foods that she would eat in Egypt. She mentions Arabic, French and Italian influences.\n\n00:12:42-00:31:21 Learning to Cook and the Family\nThis chapter the narrator speaks of how she learn to cook from her Mother and her Mother in law. Through this discussion, ideas of how food and cooking connects family together are explored. Difficulties in overcoming new ingredients and a foreign country are spoken about, but she reasserts how family recipes persisted.\n\n00:31:21-01:31:21 Maintaining Celebrations, Traditions, and Food while Forging a New Life\nIn this part of the interview, the Narrator speaks to how food plays a vital role in maintaining Jewish traditions. She speaks a little of the difficulties that her and her family overcame to maintaining these traditions and culinary practices. She mentions how her family where supported by the Brazilian Jewish community in Brazil as well as an American Jewish organization. She also highlights the unifying role that food played during these times and how cooking with love continues to bring family together and reinforce identity."},{"label":"Date created
