A man and woman on an open veranda, looking out at a winter scene. The man is standing with his sword in in a red sheath, he is also wearing a fur shawl. The woman is kneeling on the ground to his left. Her hair is white maybe suggesting her age. A group of sparrows fly over head and break through the edge of the image. The man in the image is Yamamoto Kansuke, one of the 24 Samurai of the famed warlord Takeda Shingen. His origins are relatively unknown but he was likely from Mikawa prefecture and entered service under Takeda Shingen in 1543. In legend Yamamoto Kansuke was blind in one eye and lame but despite this was a brilliant strategist and fierce in battle. He famously lead his forces to victory in the Battle of Kawanakajima."},{"label":"Date created (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1845 - D:00 M:00 Y:1846"},{"label":"Date created","value":"circa 1845-1846"},{"label":"Creator role","value":["Artist"]},{"label":"Creator","value":["Utagawa Kuniyoshi/ 歌川 国芳 (Signature: Ichiyûsai Kuniyoshi ga/ 一勇斎国芳画)"]},{"label":"Identifier - Local","value":"NE1325.U65_T6_0038"},{"label":"Extent","value":"1 file"}],"description":"Goyu: The Thatched Hut of Yamamoto Kansuke/ 御油: 山本勘助草廬 (Goyu: Yamamoto Kansuke sōro)","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/766a600f-7661-41fe-bb0d-986e4fcc83f3/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Goyu: The Thatched Hut of Yamamoto Kansuke/ 御油: 山本勘助草廬 (Goyu: Yamamoto Kansuke sōro)","height":8572,"width":5798,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/766a600f-7661-41fe-bb0d-986e4fcc83f3/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/766a600f-7661-41fe-bb0d-986e4fcc83f3","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":2048,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4,8]}]},"height":8572,"width":5798},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/766a600f-7661-41fe-bb0d-986e4fcc83f3/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/766a600f-7661-41fe-bb0d-986e4fcc83f3/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/766a600f-7661-41fe-bb0d-986e4fcc83f3/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/logo"}
