Abdul Rashid Hajam, 33 years, was picked up by Indian security forces from the rural apple orchard where he and two other Kashmiris were working on November 16, 2002 and never seen again. He is listed as 'disappeared.' No one in his family had ever suspected he might have been active with any Kashmiri militant organization. Indian security forces have been charged with committing numerous human rights violations against Kashmiri civilians. They maintain a strong presence in Indian-administered Kashmir, which remains one of the most militarized territories in the world."},{"label":"Topical subject","value":["Civilian casualties","Counterinsurgency","Insurgency","Proxy war","Human rights","Trauma","Post-traumatic stress disorder","Violence","Indian security forces","Militarism","Conflict","India","Jammu and Kashmir","South Asia","Kashmir","India-Pakistan Conflict","1947 Partition","Human rights violations"]},{"label":"Continent","value":["Asia"]},{"label":"Country","value":["India"]},{"label":"State","value":["Jammu and Kashmīr"]},{"label":"Download Restrictions","value":["Full Asset PDF","Original item(s)"]}],"description":"A Disappearance In Pattan, India","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/5332f262-25d4-401c-94bb-4fbb355b0ed5/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"A Disappearance In Pattan, India","height":220,"width":330,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/5332f262-25d4-401c-94bb-4fbb355b0ed5/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/5332f262-25d4-401c-94bb-4fbb355b0ed5","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1]}]},"height":220,"width":330},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/5332f262-25d4-401c-94bb-4fbb355b0ed5/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/5332f262-25d4-401c-94bb-4fbb355b0ed5/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/5332f262-25d4-401c-94bb-4fbb355b0ed5/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/logo"}
