Print No. 71 in the series. Depicts Murasaki Shikibu the author of Genji Monogatari (The Tale of Genji) who was born around 978. The epic follows the romantic life of Prince Genji and was extremely popular starting in it's own time and for the rest of Japanese history afterward. In this scene Lady Murasaki is sitting under a full moon on the veranda of Ishiyama temple where it is said she wrote the Tale of Genji.
