Behind her are two wooden rowboats docked at the station. A savanna can be seen in the background along the river. Peace Corps Volunteers Joe Wilson and Peter Lennon took this ferry to reach their village of Karimama, Benin. The Alibori River flooded a couple of months each year, which made the ferry inoperable. Joe and Peter were stranded for weeks until the water went down, unless they wanted to take a long moped ride south."},{"label":"Title","value":"Peul Woman at Alibori River Crossing, Northern Benin, October 1971"},{"label":"Physical description","value":"Digitized by donor prior to donation."},{"label":"Peace Corps Community Archive","value":["Rebecca Bray Collection"]}],"description":"Peul Woman at Alibori River Crossing, Northern Benin, October 1971","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/15820d6f-2d36-43f2-b3e5-994c3f63c470/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Peul Woman at Alibori River Crossing, Northern Benin, October 1971","height":1243,"width":1251,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/15820d6f-2d36-43f2-b3e5-994c3f63c470/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/15820d6f-2d36-43f2-b3e5-994c3f63c470","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1243,"width":1251},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/15820d6f-2d36-43f2-b3e5-994c3f63c470/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/15820d6f-2d36-43f2-b3e5-994c3f63c470/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/15820d6f-2d36-43f2-b3e5-994c3f63c470/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/american/iiif/logo"}
