He acknowledges the privilege he and his husband have in that they have not faced significant financial loss and none of their loved ones have been severely affected by the virus. However, he did have to move his spring classes online and spent the summer preparing for online teaching in the fall. Rather than dwelling on what COVID-19 has taken away, Bob decided to try to focus his energy on the opportunities provided by COVID. This has included more time for research, walking, and listening to podcasts. He does miss travelling and seeing friends, but wanted to get into the mindset of \"what can I do?\" He hopes that this pandemic brings about greater understanding and connection between people.
